About Deanwood Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship

Deanwood Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship (Deanwood) is located in the Deanwood neighborhood of Northeast Washington DC.

Deanwood began as Branch Sabbath School in 2008 by a group of believers from the Sheriff Road Seventh-day Adventist Church which was located at 4417 Sheriff Road Northeast, Washington DC.

Deanwood's leaders throughout the years included Dr. Phillip Bovell, Elder James McKinnon, Pastor Joseph Small and Pastor Alan B. Johnson.  Pastor Joseph Small is the present leader of Deanwood.

It should be noted that Mitchellville Seventh-day Adventist Church, under the pastorships of Pastor Melvin Hayden III and Pastor Leslie Moise, was the overseer of Deanwood during the pastorship of Pastor Alan B. Johnson, until it was established as a company.

Deanwood has changed location throughout its history.  It was once located at 4417 Sheriff Road Northeast and, upon direction from the Allegheny East Conference, moved to Fairmont Heights High School in Fairmont Heights Maryland. Deanwood is currently worshipping at the New Morning Star Baptist Church located at 5016 Sheriff Road Northeast in Washington DC.

The Allegheny East Conference Executive Committee voted for Deanwood to become a company in November 2016. Deanwood was officially confirmed as a company in November of 2018.

Deanwood has now joined with the Sheriff Road Seventh-day Adventist Church which is located at 602 59th Avenue, Fairmount Heights, MD  20743.

Deanwood's theme song is "We've Come This Far By Faith."
